No one should have to face the cold alone. That’s why we will be hosting the emergency warming center (EWC) in partnership with The Gathering Place.

This community service is for people who are unhoused when overnight temperatures are exceptionally cold. When local officials will call a code blue, the center will open.
“Hosting the EWC is about more than providing a warm place to sleep,” said Ari. “It’s about affirming the worth and dignity of every person in our community. When the temperatures drop, our response must rise to meet the need. This effort reminds us that compassion and radical hospitality are what keep Athens truly warm.”
